BREW (Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless) is an application development platform created by QUALCOMM for mobile phones. BREW is a software platform that can download and run small programs. The main advantage of BREW platforms is that the application developers can easily port their applications between all Qualcomm devices. It debuted in September 2001.
iPhone OS is the operating system developed by Apple. The iPhone and iPod Touch SDK uses Objective C, based on the C programming language. Like Mac OS X, from which it was derived, the iPhone OS uses the Darwin foundation. iPhone OS has four abstraction layers: the Core OS layer, the Core Services layer, the Media layer, and the Cocoa Touch layer. The iPhone has disrupted the smartphone landscape.

Java J2ME is a Java platform designed by SUN Microsystems for mobile devices and embedded systems. Java remains one of the most accessible and popular development platforms in the Mobile space.
